The G-MAX RS is an ultra high performance summer tire specifically designed for drivers of performance sedans, modern muscle cars, sports cars, and sporty coupes who want exceptional performance in warm and wet conditions. This tire is not intended to be used in freezing temperatures, snow, or ice. The G-MAX RS features a purposeful, directional tread pattern made from a high-performance summer compound. It has a solid center rib that enhances on-center feel, acceleration, and braking. The tire also utilizes General's SmartGrip Technology, which provides sharp steering response and sporty handling. StabiliTread Technology ensures a wide contact patch with even pressure distribution, benefiting both cornering traction and tire lifespan. The intermediate ribs have wide, angled notches that help channel water away for improved resistance to hydroplaning. Additionally, the open shoulder slots create biting edges for traction on slippery surfaces. Internally, the G-MAX RS has a single-ply polyester casing and a two-ply sidewall that improves steering response. It also features two high-strength steel belts with a two-ply polyamide reinforcement for enhanced handling and high-speed capability. The G-MAX RS includes General's SmartMonitor Technology, which is indicated by the words "Replacement Tire Monitor" molded into the tire's center rib. As the tire tread wears down to 2/32", the monitor changes to "Replace Tire" to alert the driver that the tire needs replacement. It's important to note that ultra high performance summer tires should not be exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F or lower without gradual re-warming. Sudden flexing of the tire in cold weather can cause irreversible cracking in the specialized rubber compounds. While this is not covered under warranty as it occurs due to improper use or storage, tires showing compound cracking must be replaced.
